Positive Pathways: Helping Chorley Residents Take Their Next Step

Positive Pathways: Helping Chorley Residents Take Their Next Step

A free programme from First Kick Foundation is helping people across Chorley build confidence, recognise their strengths and discover their next steps towards work, training, education and new opportunities.

Figuring out what comes next isn’t always easy – whatever your age.

Perhaps you’ve been out of work for a while, you’re thinking about changing direction, you’ve lost confidence, or you simply don’t know what opportunities are out there.

Delivered by First Kick Foundation, the free Chorley programme is open to young people and adults and provides friendly, personalised support to help people understand their strengths, develop new skills and feel more confident about moving forward.

And importantly, you don’t need to arrive knowing exactly where you want to go.

It starts with you, not your CV

Positive Pathways takes a different approach.

Rather than starting with job applications, qualifications or a blank CV template, the programme starts with you.

What are you good at? What do you enjoy? What skills do you already have that you might not even recognise? What would you like your future to look like?

By starting with the person, Positive Pathways can help participants recognise what they already bring to the table before looking at where those strengths could take them next.

From there, the programme focuses on building confidence, developing useful skills and exploring pathways into employment, training, education and other opportunities.

No judgement. No pressure. Just help.

One of the biggest messages behind Positive Pathways is simple: you don’t need to have everything figured out.

The programme is there for people at different stages of life and with different goals.

You might be looking for your first job, returning to work after some time away, considering a completely new career, looking to develop your skills or simply wondering, “What could I do next?”

Whatever your starting point, the support is designed to fit around the individual rather than expecting everyone to follow the same route.

There’s no expectation to arrive with a polished CV or a five-year plan.

Sometimes, the first step is simply having a conversation.

Know yourself. Grow yourself. Back yourself.

Positive Pathways is about more than getting somebody into a job as quickly as possible. It’s about helping people build the foundations they need to move forward with greater confidence.

Participants are supported to understand themselves and their strengths, develop personally and professionally, and begin turning that new confidence into practical next steps.

For one person, that could mean applying for a job. For another, it might mean starting training, exploring education, developing new skills or discovering opportunities they hadn’t previously considered.

There’s no single pathway, because everyone’s starting point is different.

Take two minutes to say hello

Positive Pathways: Next Steps is free for young people and adults in Chorley, with support available to help people identify what comes next.

Getting started doesn’t mean making a big commitment or having your future mapped out.

It can simply begin by saying hello.

Two minutes. No commitment. No judgement. No pressure. Just help.

Positive Pathways: Next Steps is delivered by First Kick Foundation, with support from Chorley Council, Lancashire County Council and UK Government funding.
