First Kick Foundation respects the privacy of everyone involved in our programmes.

We recognise that safeguarding concerns often involve sensitive personal information and that individuals should feel confident that information will be handled responsibly.

Safeguarding information will be handled sensitively, stored securely and shared only where there is an appropriate reason or lawful basis to do so.

We aim to ensure that records are accurate, relevant and accessible only to those who require the information for legitimate safeguarding purposes.

Information may be shared with relevant professionals or statutory agencies where necessary to protect a child or young person from harm.

This may include children’s social care, the police, safeguarding professionals or other organisations with appropriate responsibilities for a child’s safety and wellbeing.

We recognise that safeguarding information sharing must be considered carefully and in accordance with applicable data protection legislation.

However, data protection requirements do not prevent the lawful sharing of relevant information where necessary to safeguard children.

In some circumstances, information may need to be shared without consent, particularly where seeking consent could increase the risk of harm or prevent appropriate protective action.

Where appropriate, we aim to explain how safeguarding information may be used and shared, taking account of the individual’s age, understanding and circumstances.

The safety and welfare of children and young people will remain a primary consideration when making safeguarding information-sharing decisions.
