Policy Responsibility: Designated Safeguarding Lead
Safeguarding is most effective when organisations, families and professionals work together.
First Kick Foundation values positive relationships with parents, carers, schools, local authorities, community organisations and safeguarding partners.
We recognise that parents and carers play an important role in understanding a child’s needs, experiences and circumstances. Where appropriate, we aim to maintain open and constructive communication to support safe and positive participation.
Our partnership approach includes sharing relevant information, communicating concerns and working collaboratively to support children and young people.
We also recognise that safeguarding concerns may sometimes require professional advice or intervention beyond the support that First Kick Foundation can provide.
In these circumstances, we may work with relevant agencies to ensure that children and young people receive appropriate assistance.
When delivering programmes in partnership with schools or other organisations, we aim to establish clear safeguarding expectations and understand the appropriate reporting arrangements.
We recognise the importance of maintaining confidentiality and handling personal information responsibly, while ensuring that safeguarding concerns are shared with appropriate agencies when necessary.
There may be circumstances where discussing a safeguarding concern with a parent or carer could increase the risk of harm to a child or compromise a safeguarding response.
Where this is a concern, we will seek appropriate safeguarding advice before sharing information.
Our priority is to ensure that partnership working supports the safety, wellbeing and best interests of children and young people.
