Purpose

First Kick CIC is committed to safeguarding children and young people. If an allegation is made against a member of staff, volunteer, or contractor, it will be taken seriously, dealt with fairly, and in line with statutory guidance.

Principles

– Children’s welfare is the paramount consideration.
– Allegations will be managed in accordance with:
• Working Together to Safeguard Children (2023)
• Keeping Children Safe in Education (2025)
• Local Safeguarding Children Partnership (LSCP) procedures
– Staff will be treated fairly and supported throughout the process.
– Confidentiality will be maintained wherever possible.

Procedures

– Immediate Action: Any allegation must be reported immediately to the Operations Director (Suleman Desai).
– Referral: The Operations Director will inform and consult with the Welfare Officer (Danny Nolan) and contact the Local Authority Designated Officer (LADO) within 24 hours for advice and direction.
– Suspension: Staff may be suspended if necessary to protect children or allow an investigation to proceed. This decision will be made in consultation with the LADO.
– Investigation: The process may include internal investigation, police involvement, or safeguarding procedures.
– Outcome: The conclusion of the investigation will determine if disciplinary action, training, or referral to the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) is required.
– Support: Appropriate support will be provided to both the child/young person and the staff member involved.

Responsibilities

– Operations Director (Suleman Desai): ensures allegations are handled in line with statutory guidance and organisational policy.
– HR & Coaching Performance Manager / Welfare Officer (Danny Nolan): supports the Operations Director, liaises with LADO, parents, and external agencies.
– Holiday Club Manager (Lee Galloway): must immediately report any allegation arising at a holiday club to the Operations Director.
– Head of Mini Kickers (Chris Ganner): must immediately report allegations within Mini Kickers sessions.
– SENDCO (Dana Aubrey-Williams): advises on cases involving children with SEND or additional vulnerabilities.

Review

This policy will be reviewed annually, or sooner if legislation, statutory guidance, or safeguarding requirements change.
