The First Kick Foundation is a community-led organisation dedicated to improving lives through sport, wellbeing, education, skills development, and meaningful social support. We believe that everyone-regardless of age, background, or circumstance-deserves access to safe, inclusive spaces where they can grow in confidence, build positive relationships, and unlock their full potential.
Our Purpose
At our core, we exist to strengthen communities. We use sport, engagement, and support services as tools to tackle social isolation, improve mental and physical wellbeing, and create opportunities for personal development. By working directly within local communities, we aim to remove barriers that prevent people from accessing education, employment, and positive social experiences. Our work is rooted in early intervention, prevention, and long-term positive change.
What We Do
We deliver a wide range of programmes designed to support individuals at every stage of life.
Our activities include:
- Youth clubs and safe after-school spaces
- Holiday programmes and sports sessions
- Employability and skills-building initiatives
- Digital inclusion projects to improve confidence online
- Wellbeing and mental health support activities
- Mentoring and positive role model engagement
- Dementia-friendly and community support sessions
- Wider community outreach and engagement projects
Each programme is carefully designed to be engaging, accessible, and impactful.
Whether it’s a young person attending a football session, an adult building digital skills for work, or an older resident taking part in a social wellbeing group, our aim is the same: to create connection, confidence, and opportunity.
Our Approach
We believe in meeting people where they are. Our team works closely with schools, local authorities, community organisations, and partners to understand local needs and respond with meaningful, tailored support. We don’t just deliver activities—we build relationships, provide consistency, and create trusted environments where people feel safe and valued.
Sport is at the heart of what we do, but it is only part of the picture. Every session is designed to develop life skills such as teamwork, resilience, communication, leadership, and self-belief. These skills help individuals not only within the activity itself, but in school, work, and everyday life.
Our Impact
Our work supports communities by reducing isolation, improving wellbeing, and offering positive alternatives to anti-social behaviour. We provide structured, supportive environments where young people can thrive, while also offering vital services for adults and older generations who may be experiencing loneliness or barriers to opportunity.
Through consistent engagement and trusted support networks, we aim to create lasting change that strengthens individuals, families, and communities as a whole.
